Agent Skills

Inspect local Agent Skills, scaffold a spec-valid SKILL.md, and understand the host execution boundary.

Agent Skills are portable instruction packages built around a SKILL.md file. BitRouter can inspect and scaffold skills on disk; the agent host remains responsible for installation, activation, approval, and execution.

Inspect installed skills

BitRouter can validate the skills already present on disk:

bro skills list
bro skills list --global

The project-local command checks conventional skill layouts under the current project. --global checks the global Claude-compatible skill root. Each result includes the declared name, description, paths, validity, and a problem when the skill does not satisfy the Agent Skills format.

BitRouter reads these directories; it does not install into them. Installation and activation remain the responsibility of the agent host.

Scaffold a skill

Create a starter skill in the current project:

bro skills init my-skill
bro skills init my-skill --output ./skills/my-skill/SKILL.md

The name must use lowercase ASCII letters, digits, and single internal hyphens. The command refuses to overwrite an existing SKILL.md.

BitRouter does not expose local filesystem skills through a first-party MCP origin server. Skills advertised by a configured upstream MCP server can still be relayed through the MCP gateway.
